That business school develops the "leaders of tomorrow" is one of the more painful clichés that adulterates the MBA experience. A successful manager is not synonymous with a visionary leader. Leaders don't sit around assessing their twelve leadership traits.
What's one of the most important things we are supposed to learn as the future leaders of tomorrow? Tolerance. Well how are we doing? Hopefully we've made a little progress since the shouting from the Pre-Term Diversity workshop subsided.
This week I would like to report events that have recently taken place in my country, the Netherlands. The Netherlands has long been known and respected, sometimes even admired, for the tolerance of its people and progressiveness of its social policies. Regretfully, the spirit of tolerance and respect that holds the country together has been disaggregating and, a fortnight ago, the country was literally on fire.
